Cooking? We all cook or prepare food in some way during our day. Preparing food or even just opening a bottle of water is a very spiritual moment. This has been lost due to busy lifestyles and fast food yet I believe coming back into fashion.
The tube is bombarded with cooking shows and this of course is a start. The telly is showing us that meal preparation doesn't have to take much time yet what you put into the recipe is most important.
Let's think of cooks in a restaurant for a moment. There has been reality cooking shows on the television that show restaurant kitchens in a tailspin of rushed, tired, and angry and anxious cooks. Can you imagine the people eating the food these people prepare? If the cook is angry or stressed then that is the prayer the cook is putting into the food. If the cook is tired or anxious the prayer will reflect in the lives of the people that eat the food. If the cook is grandma making cookies for her grandchildren, most likely the kids will "Love" eating Grandma's cookings and feel loved and warm after eating them. Hmmmmmmmm. What is the difference here? Could it be the "love" Grandma instinctly puts into her cooking?
My own Grandson happen to say something that made me realize I should focus on this and share it on my website. He had been eating dinner with us for most of this particular week. The end of the week I was by his home and my daughter was preparing spaghetti. I had told her how much Jameson loved eating at our home and when he was eating the spaghetti, she asked him is there anything missing in this food? She meant if it tasted good or not but Jameson instead said, "Yeah, the love." It was a great moment of me that he said that of course but an even greater one for his mother, it made her think, and perhaps when she is cooking now she will do it from her heart and filled each recipe with love.
I am not the first person to do something like this. I suspect through every culture and tradition of old that prayers and wishes and good intentions were put into food to heal the people eathing it. The Catholic church used to have times when people could bring food to the church for a blessing. Sufi's also taught people to pray over their food to make the meal healing for the family. Think about your own traditions of even saying a prayer before the family meal in thanks, this is also re engerizing the meal into a healing feast. Meal time is a ritual that most folks have to get back to. A chance to gather in a family setting and share with each other the food and communication and healing. It is a place to re energize and balance and center and that is magic in group or family dynamics. Jesus too, shared meals of blessings with his followers, I'm thinking of the last supper and the gathering where they served fish and bread to the multitudes. God sent Mana from heaven to the lost in the dessert. There are so many stories of prayers and food to be thought of.
I had an experience at a gathering of our Tuesday healing group. We were meditating and vivid images of angels floating through the room were in my mind. I saw the angels holding up up glasses of water or fluid and the fluid was glowing and bright. I felt it was a message to pray over water before you drink it so it can energize/heal every cell and organ in your body. I was also empowered to give this blessing and initiate this myself rather than wait for someone else to do the blessing. This was very important to me to acknowledge as one of my passions were that woman are healers, priests, and shamans. even though not given that right in some traditions.
The next time you open a bottle of water for yourself or someone hold it up and say a prayer. Ask God to fill the water with healing light of love, happiness and joy for every cell and organ in your body. Do the same when cooking food or making a sandwich or munching on popcorn. Making the kids lunch for school, fill each bag full of love and healing energy for health, alert, happy kids. Check and see if the kids feel the difference after a few weeks.
Putting in love in a recipe is as important as any spice or herb in your kitchen.
