I am a light in America
By Cynthia Lee Carlheim Mueller
United States of America,
they have called you the Beautiful,
The home of the brave & free.
Within your colors is a greatness
thats spirit as Americans we understand.
No oppression within or around us.
That is our goal and our cry.
Let all people be proud and free
to live in freedom and happiness.
Have we made mistakes and our grasp of
freedom for all shakey in our steps.
Yes, we see our imperfections but no limitations.
We as Americans grow in spirit and cause.
We still strive for our goal freedom for all.
United we stand in these states of ours.
Supportive of each American as one of our own.
Should one fall or be threatened then the whole
of our people in these United States comes to call.
For each cry of an American is dear to our hearts as
a child and brother and sister of our own.
Americans only bow to the highest principle that
we have and that is to God.
No man, or country can be more inspiriational to Americans
than that of one God and Truth that speaks to
all people regardless of race, creed or color.
The highest principle of our land gives each person
the right to happiness and independence in voice and thinking.
We can agree or disagree but we are together in that
we are free to do this without fear of harm.
God is our inspiration as God knows our country
by our light. The light that beacons even now
those from near and afar to our shores and borders.
Keeping our quest ideals of freedom
growing pains in conflict and costs.
To keep the liberty bell ringing
and the spirit of freedom voiced.
We have had triumphs an failures
but we get back on course
and hold the line stedfast and strong.
Together we are America the strong and victorious.
We are the United States of America and on the grow.
The flag represents the spirit within each American.
In respect for who we are and our worthy goal
we salute this symbol of our country and people.
Those who try to keep us from saluting that spirit,
our own spirit and people
don't feel the strength of us all in each stripe.
The strength that gives them to disagree and turn away from our flag
is a right as Americans we have.
Today and tomorrow, Americans that salute the flag, gather in numbers
to celebrate where we came from and what we stand for.
I am an American and I am supported by every American
and our governement where ever I am in the world.
I am proud, compassionate, fair, and free and let the hope be
that I am a light within my country for all the world to see.
